WIND FARM
Pattern Energy and Samsung reached commercial operation in 2014. The 270 megawatt (MW) wind facility is the largest operating in Ontario and has the capacity to produce clean renewable energy for approximately 100,000 Ontario homes each year.
The project electrical output and environmental attributes are purchased under a 20-year power purchase agreement by the Ontario Power Authority. South Kent Wind will connect to the Hydro One Networks, Inc. 230 kV transmission system at the existing Chatham switching station.
The South Kent Wind project is located on approximately 165 distinct private land parcels and has entered into long-term lease agreements with the landowners.
The combined contribution of South Kent Wind Farm Project will generate the total amount of 135000 Credits throughout the lifetime of the project.
The Credits generated by this Project will be assigned to citizens willing to contribute to climate change mitigation to offset their Personal Environmental Footprint, and be part of a global movement to fight now climate change.
Credits account the compensation effect of the temperature rise generated by the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions and/or the reduction in heat absorption by changes in physical properties of the use of land in specific projects.
