The Alamosa Solar Generating Project is the largest high concentrating solar photovoltaic power generation facility in the world.
It is located on 225 acres in the San Luis Valley near Alamosa Colorado and produces 30 megawatts of solar power for use by customers of the Public Service Company of Colorado (“PSCo”).
The San Luis Valley was chosen for its outstanding sunlight characteristics, high elevation and an ability to easily deliver the solar project’s output to the utility transmission system. It was completed, in May 2012.

The project is projected to eliminate the generation of approximately 43,250 tons per year of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s estimate of 1,135 pounds of CO2 generated per MWh. In addition, the CPV facility has very minimal water needs.
By joining this project, you are contributing to reduce the climate impact that human activities cause on the climate, since there will be less CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.
This program has a cooling effect on temperatures equivalent to 15000 Credits.
Credits account the compensation effect of the temperature rise generated by the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions and/ or the reduction in heat absorption by changes in physical properties of the use of land in specific projects.
